Portsmouth - (8th September 2009)
ICP, your pathway to the University of Portsmouth, is fortunate to be one of the only UK pathway providers to be based in a city that is proudly home to a Premier League football team - Portsmouth FC.
Indicative of this relationship, ICP was the proud recipient of three Portsmouth Football Club shirts, signed by the entire squad, including world famous names such as Nigeria’s Kanu and England goalkeeper David James. One of these shirts will now take pride of place on the wall at ICP.
In other Portsmouth FC news, it was recently announced that Abu Dhabi billionaire businessman Sulaiman Al Fahim is the new owner of the football club. The popular property tycoon was revealed to fans at the club’s recent home game against Premier League big-spenders Manchester City and many top-rated international stars are tipped to join the South Coast club in the coming months.
The team have a number of high-profile matches to play before the season finishes in May, with Manchester United visiting Portsmouth in November, both Liverpool and Arsenal travelling down in December and Chelsea jetting in to their Fratton Park stadium in March.

This year, Portsmouth FC (or ‘Pompey’ as they are affectionately known) will be attempting to emulate the success of the 2007/2008 Premier League season during which they won the much-coveted FA Cup, beating Cardiff City in the final at Wembley in front of 90,000 fans.
It’s guaranteed to be a fascinating season at Portsmouth FC and with the club playing their home games at Fratton Park – only a 15-minute walk from the University of Portsmouth – ICP students will have the opportunity to experience the unique excitement of Premier League football over the coming months.
For more information about Portsmouth FC, take a look at the official club website.
